The Day I dropped a $12000 motorcycle!
So my cousin is visiting us from the US as a lot of our family usually does this time of year. Only this time he drove his 2000 Honda CBR motorcycle. Now this bike is beautiful....lets see a before picture shall we.
I love this bike.
So he shows up and I see this bike and I know I have to ride it. And he didn't seem to have a problem with that when I asked if it was ok. So I sit on the bike and turn it on. I look at the "dash", the speedometer goes up to 175MPH and the tachometer redlines at 15000rpm (my car redlines at 7000). And I say to myself ... "this bike is going to kill me".
I revved the engine and I could feel the beast wanting to jump out from underneath me and take off up the street.
20 minutes later I'm still sitting on the bike, scared to death I'm going to break it, or its going to break me. So finally I just say fuck it and let the clutch out and start on my way. I tear of down the the street, "oh man this is easy, no problem", I'm up into like 3rd gear (of 6) and I arrive back at the house, stop the bike and say "Wow, that was the best ride I've ever had, I have to try this again later." And i proceed to get off and go in the house.
THE BIKE IS STILL NOT BROKEN!
About 3 hours later, I have this craving to go again, so I ask and yeah sure its fine.
Last time I had left the bike facing the other direction which meant that I had to do a tight turn at the end of the street. I decided I would put my feet down and walk it around the turn instead of trying to ride around it and end up on the curb.
So I get to the end of the street, go to put my foot down.....only.....my shoe gets caught on the gear shifter......
BIKE FALLS OVER.
Now I could have saved the bike, BUT, it would have broken my leg in at least 7 places. When a 600lb bike is falling , you get out of the way.
Here is some pics of the damage.
The mirror landed on the curb and snapped off, not to mention the fact that the frame that
the mirror attached to got bent at the same time.
The shifter also got bent.....I think when we try to make it straight again, its going to snap off.
There are scratches on all parts of the bike. These are just a few.
Not to mention that I snapped off one of the clips that hold that back panel on the bike.
As if things weren't bad enough.....that night that damn dirty teenagers that hang out by my house slashed his seat with a knife.
I hate kids ... and myself!
And here is the bike as it sits right now out in front of my house.
